We love this skillet. Over the years we have had and still have Le Creuset and other brands, but for the money spent, they do not hold up, and the companies do not stand behind their products. These cast iron skillets hold the heat, distribute the heat well, and clean up easily. We heat the pan before adding food to be cooked and never have a problem cleaning. You can go the route of keeping it well seasoned and cleaning with rock salt, or using the specialized scraper, or you can take the route of cleaning with soap and water, as we do. I also dry it right away after washing. Either way, no problem with sticking and no special chemical coatings to worry about. We use gas heat, which we prefer, but have also used the skillets on electric stoves. By the way, a variety of covers are available. -Amazon User
