30 Times Cartoons Predicted The Future Better Than Any Psychic



In a 1998 episode of The Simpsons, Homer was shown submitting a script to the 20th Century Fox. A small line of text under the logo says “a division of Walt Disney Co” – something that would happen 19 years later.

#11 The Censorship Of Michelangelo’s David

When a replica of Michelangelo’s David was erected in St. Anne’s Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, the residents weren’t happy about the statue’s nudity. The city eventually created a contest called “Dress David” where people could vote on how the statue would be censored. This happened in 2016 and The Simpsons featured a censored statue of David in the episode “Itchy & Scratchy & Marge” all the way back in 1990.

The writers of Futurama predicted virtual reality as a form of entertainment years before it actually became widely available.

Lady Gaga performed her epic Super Bowl performance where she flies through the air 5 years before it actually happened in an episode of The Simpsons.

A 1994 episode of The Simpsons showed the lunch lady preparing cafeteria lunches using “Assorted horse parts”. Nine years later, a scandal happened in Ireland after the Food Safety Authority found traces of horse DNA in over a third of supermarket beefburger samples.

In one episode of a popular 80s cartoon called Inspector Gadget, one of the characters, Penny, is shown using a “computer book” – a gadget similar to the first Toshiba laptop released a few years later.

Back in 2015, a hilarious and cringe-worthy mix up happened during the Miss Universe contest when the wrong winner was announced. The same situation happened in one of Futurama’s 1999 episodes.

Even though it was shown attached to the computer book, failing to predict internal memory, it’s was still a pretty close guess.
